Europe Catches GDPR Breach-Notification Fever Privacy Law is Fast Revealing the True Extent of Data Breaches Across UK and EU Mathew J. Schwartz (euroinfosec) • September 14, 2018 The U.K.'s flag carrier, British Airways, is one of the latest EU businesses to disclose a serious data breach to customers.

Less than four months after GDPR went into enforcement, the U.K. as well as Europe at large have arguably arrived - if at times screaming and stumbling - into the modern data breach notification age.

In the U.K., last week the country's flag carrier, British Airways, warned that it had been hacked and up to 380,000 customers' payment card details stolen (see RiskIQ: British Airways Breach Ties to Cybercrime Group).
