Arizona Lawmaker Wants to Tax Porn to Fund Border Security

Arizona Representative Gail Griffinproposed the House Bill 2444 which requires a $20 porn taxto access adult content using anInternet-connecteddevice, with the collectedmoney to be used for funding border security and dream centers.

According to the bill introduced byRepublican Rep. Gail Griffin, companies that manufacture, sell or distribute devices designed to allow access to Internet content have to also include specially designed software which would enable them to block access to "obscene material", the kind of content regular people call porn.

Once that software blocks access to the porn material, users can "pay a onetime deactivation fee of at least $20 to the Arizona Commerce Authority" to have the filter disabled.

Furthermore, as detailed in Griffin's proposed bill, distributors "may impose and retain an additional charge to deactivate the blocking software."
