Copperas Cove: Police warn of another phishing scam

COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) Copperas Cove police are warning of another phishing scam, this one involving emails purported to be from Apple regarding app purchases.

Cove police contacted Apple Support after one of the department’s officers received an email about a purchase “on an Apple ID.”

“Apple advised they are phishing emails and it is an attempt to obtain your personal information,” Cove police said in Facebook post.

“Apple Support warned about emails not containing billing information specific to you, as well as links or PDF files attached to the emails prompting you to file a dispute. You might also notice the emails contain grammatical and spelling errors,” police said.

“If you receive an email and you are not sure if it’s legitimate, we strongly encourage you to call Apple Support to inquire about unfamiliar or unauthorized purchases.”
