As retailers, financial institutions and payment processors around the globe prepare for the upcoming year, it should come as no surprise that cybercriminals in the Dark Web are doing the same. From the POS terminal to the mobile device, fraudsters are building their arsenal of cyber weapons to strike at every point along the way. The cybercrime forecast predicts rain with a 100% chance of cybercrime. But where is it most likely to strike, and how?

As we close out another near-record holiday shopping season and head in to 2016, there are some things we need to consider.

Mobile fraud will outpace web fraud

In 2015, 42% of consumer-based transactions originated from a mobile device. In that same time, mobile-based fraud increased 142% compared to only 3% among Web-based transactions. Cybercriminals know that the mobile channel is vulnerable as many organizations have yet to apply the same levels of protectionas they haveinthe Web channel.
