Prominent Phishing Assault Targets Drake E-Mails

The Information Technology Services of Drake University has issued an alert e-mail to campus staff and students regarding a phishing assault that's targeting e-mail accounts affiliated to Drake.

The alert e-mail informs that the IT department of the private educational institution at Des Moines got to know about the assault, August 30, 2018. Next morning the alert e-mail was distributed for notifying people of the college. The university has assured that no data has been compromised.

As per the notice, inmates were getting e-mails which seemed as coming from members of Drake University, but in reality was some external source's attempt for stealing sensitive credentials as well as infecting PCs.

The entire lot of fraudulent e-mails follows one common format, however, with certain minimal language variations. In their captions is written "Re:" else "Re: Re" that are completed with something which appears one likely e-mail...(continued)
